White Wolf Dental Group Celebrates Sixth Annual Free Dental Day Port Orange, Florida Dentists Provide Free Dental Care to Community
Over the past six years, White Wolf Dental has provided free dental services to more than 300 patients. Overall, the group has contributed nearly $90,000 of free dental care to Port Orange and Daytona Beach residents.
Dr. Joseph Valenzi, DMD, founder of White Wolf Dental Group in Port Orange, Florida is gearing up for their sixth annual Free Dental Day event. This year, Dr. Valenzi and his staff anticipate providing free dental care services to approximately 90 patients.
In the past five years, White Wolf Dental has provided free dental services to more than 300 patients. Overall, the group has contributed nearly $90,000 of free dental care to Port Orange residents, a small riverside community established in 1867.
Port Orange sits on the banks of the Halifax River and is home to some 56,000 residents. Referred to as a "Community of Neighborhoods", Port Orange borders alongside South Daytona, Daytona Beach, Daytona Beach Shores, Wilbur By The Sea and Ponce Inlet.
Nearly half of Port Orange residents are aged 25 to 64 and consist of hardworking men and women; many of whom have children to support. With today’s recessed economy, many residents are forced to choose between putting food on the table, or taking care of basic dental and healthcare needs. Dr. Valenzi believes it shouldn’t be that way and does
his part each year to provide much-needed dental care services to the community.
I myself, endured years of agony from dental related pain. I either couldn’t find or afford proper care, or did not have insurance support. Fortunately I am past that now, but I was compelled to interview Dr. Valenzi and would like to share our interview with you.
I encourage you to share it with your dentist. Perhaps, together, we could create a nationwide network of dentists offering Free Dental Day once a year. Imagine the impact this could have for people who cannot afford regular dental services!
White Wolf Dental Group Free Dental Day Interview…
Q) What prompted you to organize the Free Dental Day event?
A) I believe charity begins at home and wanted to give back to the Port Orange community. We have so many families unable to receive dental treatment simply because they do not have the money or insurance. The health of your teeth and gums affects your overall well-being and we want our residents to be in good health! It is very gratifying to
help the people in our community and they are always so appreciative.
Q) How many years have you organized the Free Dental Day event?
A) This will be our sixth year and each year it gets bigger. We’ve gone from helping 20 to 30 patients, to attending more than 90 patients in one day. That’s a lot of teeth and a lot of improved lives!
Q) What types of dental services are provided?
A) Each patient is given the choice to see a dentist for a specific problem, or a dental hygienist for cleaning and oral care. Services during Free Dental Day include exams, x-rays, cleanings, fillings and extractions.
Q) Who can obtain free dental care during the event?
A) Anyone willing to wait in line for help! We don’t ask financial questions and only require basic information. We ask, "How can we help you?" Keep in mind, last year people began lining up at midnight. By the time I arrived, there was already a long line. Also realize we must shut things down at some point in time. Unfortunately,
not everyone can be accommodated. My team is dedicated to helping as many of our neighbors as we can. Needless to say, we are always looking to enlist other dentists in our area to assist with the needs of the community.
Q) Are other dentists assisting you during this years’ Free Dental Day?
A) Yes, Dr. Danny Parrish and his team have volunteered their services this year. Dr. Parrish and staff have joined forces with White Wolf Dental in the past and enabled us to provide care to a greater number of people in need. We greatly appreciate Dr. Parrish and enjoy having him and his team work with us during the event.
Q) I understand you have sponsors who donate food, bottled water and other services. Tell us more about your sponsors and how you obtained them.
A) Many of our sponsors were contacted by the White Wolf Dental team, while others offered their services or donations after understanding what a worthy cause Free Dental Day is. Our sponsors include Krispy Kreme Donuts, Florida Power and Light, McDonald’s, Chick-fil-A, East Coast Print Source, Burns Janitorial Supply, Herb Weems Plumbing,
Capital One and Patterson Dental Supply.
Q) What is the date of this year’s Free Dental Day event?
A) Friday, November 21st, 2008
Q) What are the hours of the event?
A) We begin seeing patients at 7:30 a.m. and plan to help approximately 90 individuals. In past years we have had to turn people away who were willing to wait in line for quite some time. That’s never a good feeling. But, we do our best to provide quality dental treatment to as many people as possible.
Q) What are your long-term goals for Free Dental Day?
A) I would like to network with 51 area dentists willing to offer free dental services one day, each year, so the citizens of our community have a place to go every week to have basic or even critical dental problems addressed. That would provide our community members, who are unable to afford regular care or insurance, with an alternative that
actually improves their lives and well-being.
If you live in the Port Orange or Daytona Beach area and are in need of dental services take advantage of Free Dental Day. The event is hosted at White Wolf Dental on Friday, November 21st. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. and close once the maximum amount of patients has been reached.
White Wolf Dental Group is located at 1221 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, Florida.

Oral DNA Testing: The Future of Treating Gum Disease has Arrived!
White Wolf Dental is pleased to announce the arrival of Oral DNA testing. Periodontal disease has reached epidemic proportions; affecting millions of Americans and creating a host of health problems. Scientific studies show periodontal infection is related to systemic diseases including heart disease, diabetes, and some forms of cancer.
Dr. Valenzi focuses on each patient’s overall health; both dental and medical. Oral DNA testing can assist Dr. Valenzi in identifying bacterial causes of gum disease and genetic traits of each individual patient.
DNA Testing Now Helping Treat Gum Disease
Dr. Valenzi is concerned with patients overall health, both dental and medical. Studies show that periodontal infection is related to systemic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes & some forms of cancer. Dr. Valenzi is now performing Oral DNA ( www.OralDNA.com ) testing which helps detect the bacterial causes and genetic trait of each individual patient. Since each patient and each periodontal infection is different, with the OralDNA test we know exactly which antibiotics needed to be prescribed for each patient. When combined with Laser or conventional gum treatment, targeted antibiotics can lead to higher success rates.
In addition, OralDNA testing can monitor the presence of the pathogenic bacteria. We can have an “early warning” that you are at risk for more bone loss or be reassured that you are still in good health.
White Wolf Dental Now Offering CariFree Products
CariFree offers ground-breaking anti-cavity products that produce a healthy environment for your mouth. Dr. Valenzi thoroughly researched and experimented with CariFree products prior to integrating them into his practice. The results have been outstanding.
CariFree products include: Oral Neutralizer Gel, Treatment Rinse, Maintenance Rinse, Xylitol Gum and CariFree Boost; a mouth spray to alleviate dry mouth. White Wolf Dental Group is excited to offer this outstanding line of dental care products to our patients.
Dr. Valenzi has researched and is integrating into the practice, CariFree, a new breakthrough in dentistry that helps reduce the risk of cavities ( www.carifree.com ).
CariFree neutralizes the acid that is found in the mouth which then reduces or eliminates the harmful bacteria that causes tooth decay. The treatment kit includes: rinses, gel, mouth spray & gum; the kit is a 3 month supply. Reordering can be as simple as going online or coming into the office to purchase. Protect your dental investment, help prevent recurrent decay.

White Wolf Dental Donates $90,000 in Dental Services to Port Orange, Florida Community
Dr. Joseph Valenzi, DMD, of White Wolf Dental Group states, “I believe charity begins at home. There’s nothing wrong with going to other countries on medical missions (something I plan to do as well), but there is considerable need for free dental care right here.”
For the past six years, Dr. Valenzi and his staff, along with Dr. Danny Parrish and his team, have offered their services to community members in need. Although Valenzi states he borrowed the idea from another dentist, it’s a concept he hopes other area dentists will embrace.

$90,000 in free Dentistry Given to the Community By Dr. Valenzi and the White wolf Team
I believe that charity begins at home. There’s nothing wrong with going to other countries on medical missions (something I plan to do as well), but there is a lot of need right here. So for five years we have been holding an annual Free Dental Day. Sometime before Thanksgiving, we pick a Friday and open our doors to help our community.
We don’t ask any financial questions, we just ask how can we help you. In 2007 we helped 62 folks and did $18,455 in services. That’s a lot of dentistry! I had a lot of help. Every one of my team volunteered (with no threats from me), as did Dr. Parrish and three of his team, my family and a few patients all helped out.
So far we reckon we’ve seen over 300 patients over the years.
Word has gotten around about this day, so now the first folks start lining up around midnight, and camp out all night. The next day is a wild scene with a long line out the door of patients, volunteers handing out donuts and coffee donated by Krispy Kreme and McDonalds, and the rest of us trying to see as many people as we can. Other donations were made by Chick Fil A, FPL, Burns Janitorial Supply and Patterson Dental.
Free Dental Day is an idea I’ve stolen from other dentists. My hope is that someday, if 51 other dentists in our area will join in and also have a free dental day once a year, then every week there would be a place to go to get out of pain if you couldn’t afford regular care.
IMPORTANT DENTAL HEALTH ALERT! Lead Found in Imported Dental Crowns
Traditionally, dentists have relied on local laboratories to create dental crowns for their patients. With advances in delivery services, dental labs can now be located anywhere in the world. Due to competition and consumer demand for low-cost dental appliances, many dentists are forced to purchase from overseas labs.
Recently, it was discovered some of these labs may be using lead in their alloys. Lead is a deadly toxin that can lead to brain damage, nerve disorders, muscle and joint pain, irritability, increased blood pressure, fertility problems, and memory or concentration problems.
At White Wolf Dental, you can be confident that your crown is free of toxic alloys. Using CEREC technology, we can create a precision porcelain crown in one visit. Better yet, you can watch it being made!
Dentists have traditionally relied on local labs to create crowns for their patients. With the advent of overnight delivery services labs can now be anywhere in the country or the world. As with so many products, the low cost leaders are labs overseas.

I want my patients to know I have NEVER used a lab outside the United States. I also do not use nonprecious metals in my crowns (which contain potentially toxic alloys such as chromium, nickel, beryllium and others). In fact we have largely moved to metal free restorations. We can now place crowns and bridges in almost all situations using high strength porcelain based restorations, with no metal at all.
When metal is indicated, we use a high gold, content precious metal alloy. A sticker declaring its exact content accompanies every case.
And with our CEREC technology, we can create an all porcelain crown in on visit, as you watch it being made. http://www.cereconline.com/ecomaXL/index.php?site=Cerec_PatientInfo
Dr. Valenzi of White Wolf Dental: First Dentist in Port Orange to offer One Visit Dental Crowns!
CEREC Restorations has arrived, so say goodbye to temporary crowns and multiple dental visits! CEREC utilizes CAD/CAM technology to custom craft a porcelain dental crown that perfectly matches your natural tooth color. The process is virtually painless and crowns are created in-house in about 1-1/2 hours; eliminating the need for multiple dental visits.
CEREC Restorations
The CEREC system has allowed dental professionals to meet patients’ needs by producing metal free restorations (such as crown, onlays and inlays) chairside in a single visit.
This procedure has evolved over the last 20 years and has become one of the most researched restorative tools in dentistry.
No more wearing a temporary crown for 3 weeks and returning to the office to have the real crown seated.

Laser periodontal therapy is used to treat periodontitis; inflammatory diseases that affect the tissues surrounding and supporting the teeth. Left untreated, periodontitis can lead to pain, inflammation and tooth loss. Dental experts claim periodontitis is caused by bacteria that adhere to the teeth and migrate to the gums and bone.
At White Wolf Dental, we treat periodontitis using Periolase; the only laser designed specifically for periodontal therapy. Periolase offers unique features to perform periodontal therapy and all soft tissue procedures. With Periolase there is no cutting or stitches. Most patients feel well enough to engage in normal activities immediately after treatment.
