Everyone knows what a Dental Assistant Does right? She (usually) is the one who uses that sucker thing in your mouth. What kind of job is that? How boring.
Well actually, Dental Assisting is a very high tech multifaceted health care job. Where else in the health care field can you be an x-ray tech, patient advocate, surgical assistant, supply officer and many more things all in one office? Dentistry needs more highly trained Assistants. And everyone knows health care is a more secure area of the economy than most.
Listen to Jennifer beautifully describe why she chose Assisting, how she became one and what it means in our office.

I recently decided to go into dental assising, so this was a good podcast! Just to hear some of the things that assistants do. I tell people that I am goin to school for dental assisting, which by the way I start a one year program this fall at a community college about an hour from where I live, anyway I tell them I am going to be an assistant and most of them immediately ask the question “so you are going to clean teeth?” and I have to tell them that is what hygienists do not assistants and then they precede to ask what’s the difference. And I know a little about what they do, but not a whole mo so this was good for me so that when people do ask what is the difference between a dental assistant and hygienist I have a little more knowledge about the difference. I would have liked to hear a little bit mor about what would Jessica say to someone who was working a dead end job or whatever and they were to ask her about the whole process what would she say? For me I do know a few people who have been through the process, but it’s hard to just come out and ask. So if she knew someone was interested, but was too shy to ask would she approach them and tell them and let them ask some questions? Thanks for this podcast and I look forward to hearing more about what it takes to be a dentist!!
