Thanks for the question. White filling, if well placed, will last about as long as silver. They do not release mercury however, and this is particularly important in children because their brains are still developing. They also bond to the tooth and help prevent the fractures that can develop over the years in teeth filled with silver amalgam fillings.

While teeth with white fillings can be cold sensitive, I do not have as many problems with the white fillings as I used to have with silver.

My daughter has three cavites inwhich are molars that are on the back bottom, Two on the left bottom and one onthe right bottom back. My question to you is which has the most strongest life span
over the years? white or silver?

I was quite impressed with the improvements to your website not having visited it in probably the last 5 months.
I was pleasantly surprised to see podcasts on your website. I listened to several of them and learned a few things in the process. Your offering of “Free Dental Day” over the years is certainly generous and inspiring. In these tough times of a bad economy, which will not go away anytime soon, I can see this idea catching on to motivate many more service businesses in Port Orange to hopefully join in and expand this concept.
With your updated website, the information provided, the friendly workplace atmosphere, and the level of services your office provides, I can see that Dr. Valenzi is one of those forward-looking dentists who likes to stay on the leading edge of dentistry which is certainly a bonus for all his patients. Let me also truthfully mention that I think Dr. Valenzi has probably the best support staff in the business. No hype…it’s true!
Another thing that surprised me to learn was that Dr. Valenzi rides a recumbent bike! I happen to be a great fan of recumbents and actually owned several Ryan Vanguard LWB bikes for years. I have many fond memories of long rides on those recumbents, (one of them over 100 miles), and writing about this brings them all back. I’ve since, regretfully, sold them but still ride a mountain bike.
Your office is providing a level of dental care far above what I would consider “normal” and for that I feel lucky that I just happened to become one of your patients after moving to Florida about 9 years ago. Keep up the excellence!

I’m infortunately on a budget. My question is whether dental insurance is
financially beneficial? There’s my husband (62) and myself (55). Until August 09 we had Delta Dental but have let it lapse
due to expense but I’m afraid to skip our six month cleanings.

Any experience with dental plans vs your service costs would be appreciated.

Hi Louise!

First I want to encourage you to return to the dentist who did the surgery and placed the denture. Whenever you have surgery there will be some degree of pain and swelling. Only by looking at you can your dentist tell if the pain is caused by an infection, bone spur, sore spot from the denture or other things. Most of these things are easily resolved.

A lip that droops can be a result of swelling, but might be due to nerve trauma. In either case you should see your dentist right away.

went to the dentist had jaw teeth pulled now the right of my mouth drops down what happened also they put my tempory dentures in my right jaw hurts when i chew.please help me

Our Free Dental Day will be held this year on November 20, 2009. Rather than have people sleep out all night as they have done in past years, we held a lottery. Notice was in the Daytona Beach News Journal a few weeks ago and we got hundreds of calls. Unfortunately we’ve already filled our spots for treatment for the year.

You might contact the Volusia County Dental Society. Other members are involved in other free or reduced fee activities and they could tell you what is available.
