About Dr. Valenzi

Watch Dr. Valenzi tell you about his background and why he loves helping his patients, or read his biography below.

Dr. Valenzi was born in Long Island, New York and attended Cornell University for his undergraduate education. He attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated with honors in 1982, and then remained there to complete a General Practice
Fellowship. He opened his first practice in Milford Connecticut and spent a year studying Prosthetics (implants, crowns, & dentures) commuting to New York University Dental School.

In Connecticut he began teaching. He taught microbiology, anatomy, and physiology at New Haven Community College. He then taught operative dentistry at Yale’s General Practice Residency Program, where he was awarded teacher of the year in 1992. Currently he is an
advisor to the DBCC Hygiene and Dental Assisting program.

Continuing education has always been something of an obsession for Dr. Valenzi. The thought that there might be something out there better for his patients than he is currently offering them really bothers him. In 1990, he earned a Fellowship award, and in 1999 the prestigious Mastership award from the Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) ( http://dev.agd.org/Education/MAGD/ ). Less than 1% of dentists are MAGD.

Implants have been part of Dr. Valenzi’s practice for over 20 years. As they’ve become a standard and even preferred treatment option, it became important to be able to place as well as restore them in his office. Dr. Valenzi also saw a growing need to be able to deal effectively with the many people who are profoundly anxious about dental treatment. So, Dr. Valenzi attended the internationally known, year long Maxi-Course in implantology and the IV sedation program at the Medical College of Georgia.

In all, Dr. Valenzi has taken over 2,600 hours of course work since his postgraduate fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania; or about 100 hours per year. Florida requires 15 hours per year. …but wait – there’s more!

Dr. Valenzi successfully presented all cases and met the requirements for fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantology http://www.icoi.org/ , and was given the award in 2004 in New Orleans. In October 2005 he was honored as an associate fellow of implant dentistry by the American Academy of Implant Dentistry http://www.adsahome.org/ .

Dr. Valenzi is currently a member of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the Academy of General Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantology, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology http://www.adsahome.org/ , the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association and the Central District Dental Association. He is past president of the Milford Dental Society. Dr. Valenzi graduated from the Las Vegas Institute, the world’s premier institute for advanced cosmetic dentistry.

The Valenzi’s moved to Florida in 1998. He and his wife Dorrie have three children, AJ, Kelly Anne and Nicki. You may find him riding his recumbent bicycle or his red, cool, Honda Scooter!
